[BEAUTIFUL STUDENT MOLESTED BY 5 DIFFERRENT MEN IN ONE DAY; EVEN SECURITY MAN DID IT]

It was a very bad day recently for a beautiful ND 1 student of a private polytechnic in Ekiti State as she was molested by five different different men, including a boy who was professing undying love for her and wanted her to be his special girlfriend. The boy and his three friends first took turn to rape her after tying her hands and legs... Then a security man who was asked to take the victim to the police station for a formal report also could not resist her beauty, hence he took her to his house and also forcefully had his way. How sad! 4 suspected members of a cult group and the security man of the institution have all been arrested over the incident. The rape victim [name withheld] said the boy, who had earlier asked her out, stormed her room with 3 boys, tied her up and took turn to rape her. She said the Chief Security Officer of the school directed a security man, Adanbioje, to take her to police station to make an official report of the rape case but after leaving the station, the security man took her to his residence and also forcefully had sex with her. The security man, however, denied molesting the female student. He claimed that he granted the girl an “asylum” because she said she could not sleep alone in her house. “She could not sleep alone because she was afraid that those who had earlier molested her might come back again,” he insisted The Police PRO, Victor Babayemi, who paraded the suspects, said police investigation had shown that rape cases had been rampant in the institution, and assured that the suspects would be prosecuted.

AGAIN APC FAILS TO UNVEIL NAT’L OFFICERS] -

ABUJA- THE three political parties, Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP, and Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, seeking registration under the All Progressives Congress, APC, failed again to unveil national officers that would run the affairs of the party. Speaking shortly after merger committees’ meeting with journalists, ACN Merger Committee Chairman, Chief Tom Ikimi said the meeting which was very ‘important’ could not release the names of the interim national officers, because the merger committees continued deliberation on the matter and failed to reach a compromise and had to refer its disagreement to the caucuses of the merging political parties for further discussion. Ikimi said when issues concerning the names and positions of the interim leadership of the APC were resolved at the caucus meeting of the merging parties then officers would be made public. He said, “It was a very important meeting that continued from last Tuesday, and we have reviewed the processes as regards to registration of our party, and looked into various issues in order that we can carry all the merging parties along. “This evening (Tuesday) there will be caucus meeting of the merging parties. We have worked out various options which we want to take to the caucuses, we will meet with the leadership in our caucuses and finalise these matters. “We have put in various structures to ensure that all the merging parties are taking along, and this we will discuss tonight. Every party has its own operandi. “There is no time left now to unveil the national officers. I am sure is just matter of days.” Speaking on the application for registration with INEC Ikimi said that the merging political parties had received forms which will soon be completed and retuned to INEC. “Application has been put, INEC has replied, and some forms have been given to the parties to complete, and these forms to complete is to have the names of the interim national officers. On the submission of names we shall discuss it with the leadership of our parties and all these issues will be resolved,” he stated.

According to gossip website MediaTakeOut.com, Kim and Kanye have settled on calling their daughter Kaidence, which would follow the Kardashian family tradition of naming daughters with the letter ‘K’. Kanye, 36, was incredibly close to his mother and even penned a tribute song about her, titled ‘Hey Mama’, for his 2005 album ‘Late Registration’. [MAN BURNS 12-YEAR OLD GIRL WITH PRESSING IRON]

A member of staff of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Kwara State Command, northcentral Nigeria, Mr. Yemi Afolayan, has been arrested by the police for allegedly inflicting severe injuries on a 12-year old girl, Favour Emmanuel, with a hot pressing iron after tying her up and beating her to the point of comma. It was gathered that the girl, a native of Anambra state, whose mother is in Lagos State, was staying with the Immigration officer’s family in Ilorin. “My master, Mr. Afolayan, had asked me to prepare rice but as it was taking too long for the food to be ready he first beat me mercilessly and later tied me up and used an electric pressing iron to inflict all the injuries on my body,” the victim narrated. A source in the neighbourhood along Basin Road in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, who pleaded anonymity, disclosed that the manner in which the girl was treated was dehumanising and inhuman, adding there was little they could do since they were not a party to her being brought into the house, hence they could not challenge the couple. The matter was reported to the Ministry of Women Affairs after a neighbour noticed the maltreatment the girl receives. The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development in the state, Mrs. Comfort Afolayan, who reacted to the matter, condemened such act and said the ministry made a report at the anti-child trafficking department of “A” Division Police Station after which Afolayan was arrested. “The victim has been arrested, while the child is in our custody at the Motherless Babies’ Home, Gaa Akanbi, Ilorin, where she is being taken care of before we take her back to her family. “As a mother, not even as the Commissioner for Women affairs And Social Welfare, the act is very horrible. As a mother, who has gone through the process of child bearing, you cannot see that situation and keep quiet. Such a treatment is not acceptable. “The Ministry will not relent in its efforts to protect the rights of children. We have been embarking on rigorous enlightenment programmes on child abuse and child labour, even after all these efforts, people are still involved in such practices,” she said. The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Fabode Olufemi, confirmed the incident, saying a warrant of arrest has been issued to effect the arrest of the suspect, assuring that the police would do everything possible to bring the culprit to justice.

LAGOS GOVT, NMA CONDEMN COMMERCIAL BLOOD DONATION] -

LAGOS — LAGOS State Government and Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, yesterday, condemned commercial blood donation in the country, saying that it was against the Voluntary Non-Remunerated Blood Donation, VNRBD, approved by the World Health Organisation, WHO. Speaking at different fora to mark the World Blood Donor Day, WBDD, today, the state government and NMA, said though voluntary donation was low in Nigeria, donation for commercial purpose portended a great danger to provision of an effective and efficient blood transfusion system in the country. At a briefing, Commissioner for Health, Dr Jide Idris, faulted blood donation for non-altruistic reasons, warning that the state would, if notified, clampdown on any centre that perpetrated such act in Lagos. According to him, “The paid donor is likely to involve in other activities for money as well and will most likely not be living a healthy lifestyle. In addition, they stress the health system unnecessarily as the blood has to be discarded after the rigorous and strict screening process when the blood is found to be unwholesome. This is why we join the rest of the world every year in celebrating our voluntary donors who give the gift that saves lives on a daily basis.” On the theme of this year’s celebration tagged: “Give the Gift of Life: Donate Blood” Idris lamented that “only approximately 8 per cent of all the blood transfused is from voluntary donations adding that it is a far cry from the 100 per cent target set by the WHO for the whole world to achieve by 2020” On its part, NMA President, Dr. Osahon Enabulele, said blood transfusion was a life saving procedure without which complex medical and surgical procedures, maternal and child health care activities and trauma care would not produce expected results.

The ACN leader had on Monday addressed the House of Commons in London, during which he highlighted major political and economic challenges facing the country; in a lecture he called “Leadership, National Development and the People”. Apart from describing Jonathan’s administration as lacking the needed capacity to move the nation forward, the APC chieftain also accused the government of taking Nigeria backwards.

I’m Not 48 Because My Mum Is Less Than 60–Eucharia Anunobi Claims

Back in the days, most people do everything possible to add up to their ages just to claim being matured, but that is gradually fading away nowadays. The menace of age reduction almost started in the Nigerian civil service where most workers try to stay longer in service after clocking the retirement age of 60 or 35 years in service. The menace then moved to the football profession where some Nigerian footballers have a ‘football age’ with the hope of playing in Europe by claiming a far younger age. For now, the virus of age reduction is like a stiff competition between the civil service in Nigeria and Nigerian footballers. The entertainment industry might soon join the club of age reduction bug in Nigeria.Few days ago, ‘bad girl’ actress turned Evangelist, Eucharia Anunobi added a year and her fans sent birthday wishes to her. In her official biography, her date of birth reads ‘May 25, 1965′, but Evangelist Eucharia has denied being 48. According to the Imo State-born screen diva, “yes, I appreciate the messages I received as I celebrated my birthday but took exception to the wrong information that am 48 years old. Where on earth did you guys get such an age from for me? “I would like to state here, without mincing words, that am not 48 years, even my mother was not married to my dad as at 48 years ago, and she is even yet to be 60 years.” The question now is, how old is Evangelist Eucharia Anunobi? Is she hoping to contest for Miss Nigeria competition? (

[THOSE WHO ATTENDED JUSTUS ESIRI’S CANDLELIGHT ARE HYPOCRITES - EDDIE UGBOMAH!!!]

It is no longer news that foremost Nollywood film producer and director Eddie Ugbomah was not at the Candle-light service held a few weeks ago for the late actor Justus Esiri. What many did not know before now was the reason why the man who has the single honour of been one of Nigeria`s early film-makers and presently remains the Chairman Board of Trustees for both The Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN) and the Association of Movie Producers(AMP) refused to grace the occasion. NOLLYWOOD INSIDER, in its characteristic manner, cornered Eddie at his Oko-Afo, Badagry Expressway residence penultimate Monday, during which the elderly film guru expressed his mind, “If I had gone there, I would have destroyed the place, calling those boys and girls, that may God punish all of them. What did they burn candle for? Did they ever do Justus Esiri Day while he was alive? When I was 70, only five of them showed up even while I am the Chairman of the Board of Trustees for both the DGN and AMP. Who is Nollywood than me? But because they are nonentities who live in tribal camps, fighting one another so that they can go to government Ministries to collect peanuts; that was why people like Ejike Asiegbu wanted to be AGN`s president forever. These are the people you journalists should expose. What is Jide Kosoko still doing as the president of ANTP? He has been overdue for the past four years. But it is because he would always be called to represent Yoruba film practitioners, like he was invited by Amaka Igwe. When did Amaka attend any Nollywood programme? So what are they doing a Candle-light for?

[ONDO 2007 GUBER: SECURITY REPORTS WERE FORGED – DG DSS]

[ONDO 2007 GUBER: SECURITY REPORTS WERE FORGED – DG DSS] ---------------- Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ondo State has praised a police report alleging forgery of security reports on the 2007 gubernatorial election as the reason for the judicial defeat of its candidate and former governor, Dr. Olusegun Agagu at the Court of Appeal. The party, in a statement made available to Vanguard alongside a report of the Police on the election, lamented the continued sustenance of the Labour Party in government despite what it claimed were the security reports. The police report allegedly fingered the erstwhile chairman of Labour Party, LP, Dr. Olaiya Oni, as the provider of the forged security reports to the LP legal team. The report endorsed by the PDP Chairman, Ebenezer Alabi, and Secretary, Oyedele Ibine, follows contentions arising from a petition filed to the Inspector-General of Police by Dr. Agagu on the purported forgery of security report allegedly used in ousting him from power by the Court of Appeal in 2009. The police report was endorsed by CP Ali Amodu. PDP quotes police PDP said: “A letter was written to the Director-General of the State Security Services, SSS, Abuja, to confirm if the SSS report in Ondo State during the 2007 gubernatorial elections were forged. “The Director-General, in his reply, confirmed that the SSS reports tendered at the tribunal were forged and he clarified the differences between the agency’s authentic reports and the forged ones that were tendered.” A letter was also written to the Registrar, Court of Appeal, Benin, where the case went on appeal, to furnish the records of proceedings of the case to enable the Police identify who tendered the documents.

EMERGENCY RULE, COUNTERPRODUCTIVE – ACN]

The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) has described the declaration of a state of emergency in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe States by President Goodluck Jonathan as lacking in original thinking, and therefore asked the National Assembly to reject it. In a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said if the use of force was capable of ending the Boko Haram crisis, it would have ended a long time ago. It said while the President was right in expressing outrage over the mindless killings and wanton destruction by the insurgents, he was wrong in proposing more of the same measures that have failed to yield results. ”If the medicine given to a patient has not cured his or her illness, is it not futile to prescribe more of the same medicine for the patient? If the declaration of a state of emergency in 15 local government areas in four states in 2011 has not curbed the activities of the insurgents, why extend such measure to other areas? If the use of force in the affected states have failed to curtail the activities of the insurgents, why send in more troops? ”There is nothing new in the President’s action. It is more of the same: deployment of more troops to the affected states and the use of tougher, scorched-earth tactics against the insurgents. In the first instance, this stepped-up militarization of the states amounts to an asymmetric use of force in an environment where the insurgents operate within a civilian population, hence it will ultimately be counterproductive as the death toll will continue to mount while the civilian population – who will be caught in the cross fire – will be alienated.

[SOCCER STAR, YUSUF AYILA’S WIFE IN JUJU SCANDAL]

Contrary to reports in the media that Super Eagles star and Orduspor midfielder, Yusuf Ayila, abandoned his wife and kids in Ukraine and eloped with a girlfriend. We were actually able to get Graphic1Ayila’s reaction through his media rep during the week and his revelation was rather shocking as the Graphic3footballer accused his wife, Gbemisola of allegedly wanting to kill him and inherit his properties. Hear what he told us: ‘Firstly, I’ll like to state categorically that Gbemisola is not my legal wife as widely reported. She is the mother of my two kids. We met years back and started a casual date. The trouble started when I asked her to bring my children for holiday in Ukraine. One day, while I lived with her, I opened Gbemi’s wardrobe in Ukraine and found different charms, including a snake inside a bottle filled with gin. It was a confirmation of the feelers I got from family and friends that she is fetish and had been using charms on me. I felt uncomfortable living under the same roof with her. In view of this development, I told her to return to Nigeria, to which she refused. At that point, I told her I can’t cope with her bad habit anymore; that she had to go back to Nigeria or I’ll leave the house for her. Meanwhile, before seeing the charms in her wardrobe, she’s always been at loggerheads with my mother for no concrete reason. I had to leave the house in Ukraine to get another apartment when she refused to leave. Yet it never stopped me from paying the house rent, even after my departure to Orduspor, Turkey, my club. I kept paying the children’s school fees and other bills and later discovered that her Visa will expire in a few months’ time. I sent her a mail asking her to leave Ukraine and go back to Nigeria since she hadn’t anything concrete doing and yet again she refused. I sent her another mail threatening to stop paying the rent in Ukraine by the end of April. (Read On...) When she refused to leave, I sent someone to collect her passport lest she tarnishes my image and career. I started hearing some unimaginable stories of her escapades with men each time I visited Nigeria, but I kept my cool. She was also reported to be having an affair with a popular Fuji star who also denied the allegation. She had on several occasions connived with some people to kill me, which I survived by the grace of God. For the records, I have a recorded phone conversation of that’. According to Ayila, he gives Gbemisola 1 Million Naira as monthly allowance. As for the said mistress, Ayila defended that he’s now legally married to her. He described the new woman as a very responsible, God fearing lady who is his wife and not a mistress, as claimed by his estranged wife...

[Blackface Is Angry With 2face For Not Inviting Him To Dubai]

Blackface, one of the famous but defunct group, Plantatun Boiz, is not happy at the moment with Tuface, a former buddie and pal, for not sending him invitation to Dubai for the superlative wedding. Blackface expressed his grievance recently on a social media; Twitter, when a fan asked him why he was not at the event. And his response was like “I no dey go where I no dey invited!” From the look of things, it’s so obvious that the guy is not happy for being segregated to witness the wedding despite the fact that the song that actually made Tuface, The African Queen, was composed by him. This is really not good enough! Back in the day, 2Face was one part of three-member boy band ‘Plantashun Boiz’. After releasing classics like “Knock me Off” and “You and I“, the group split amidst controversial circumstances in 2004. It seemed all members buried the hatchet however as the group re-united to release one final album ‘Plan B’ three years after the split... (

[No Sugar-Mummy Bought That Car For Me--Aremu Afolayan Reacts]

Following speculations that the expensive Bentley Continental GT car 'movie scarce' actor, Aremu Afolayan, posed with recently, was bought for him by his 'sugar mummies', the younger brother of Kunle Afolayan has reacted to the rumour and has condemned in strong terms that no sugar-mummy purchased the 'toy' for him. The handsome dude took to his twitter page to debunk the rumour and challenged those who claim he dated older women to acquire the car to try and see if they will get such a 'car gift' from their 'lovers'. "I don't think a woman will love a man so much that she will buy a Bentley for him. If they think it's easy to date elderly women and get a Bentley, let them try," Aremu tweeted. (Read On...) He tweeted further that, "the problem with people is that they. tend to hate what they can't conquer. I date ladies, not older women. Moreover, whoever I date is my choice." Aremu has been romantically linked in the past with Yetunde Bustline who married a younger husband, Baba T. He (Aremu) has also been linked with Sikiratu Sindodo who once reportedly dated Kunle Afod and MC Oluomo..

TERRORISTS MAY OVER-RUN NIGERIA, MARK WARNS]

TERRORISTS MAY OVER-RUN NIGERIA, MARK WARNS] ---------------- ABUJA — THE Senate Presi-dent David Mark warned, Sunday, that unless everybody comes together to tackle the security challenge, the perpetrators might over run the country. This came as the Inspector General of Police, Mr Mohammed Abubakar, yesterday, directed the AIG in charge Zone 4, Mike Zuokumor, to relocate to Lafia, Nasarawa State, following last Wednesday’s killing of scores of Policemen in the state by the Ombatse sect group and the delay in investigation to apprehend the culprits. The Senate President who expressed grave concern over the continued killings and wanton destruction of property in the country argued that foreigners who might be accused of being sponsors of members Boko Haram sect currently terrorising some parts of the country would not succeed if Nigerians were not involved internally as willing tools for the deadly act. ‘’There could be foreign collaborators but the foreigners would not succeed if there are no willing tools internally,” he said, In a statement, yesterday, by his Chief Press Secretary, Paul Mumeh, Mark also raised alarm that no one was safe any longer in the country, just as he stressed that the continued loss of lives and property could not be a way of life, adding: “The situation has degenerated to an intolerable level and exposes everybody to danger.” He condemned in strong terms the attack and killing of policemen and other security operatives in Nasarawa State by some cultists and submitted that “nobody, no nation, no matter how weak, would live to accept such heinous crime.” The statement read: “An angry Senator Mark wondered what is happening to us as a people is strange and condemnable. How did we degenerate to this level where everyone became a brothers’ hater instead of being our brothers’ keeper? The situation calls for soul searching. We must re-examine ourselves. We must look inwards.”

SHOCKING: ABUJA VILLAGES WHERE TWINS ARE SACRIFICED]

SHOCKING: ABUJA VILLAGES WHERE TWINS ARE SACRIFICED] ----------------- The journey into the villages of Tunga, Gomani, Zaiha, Dongoruwa, Tubudu, Kutara, Paiko began from Abuja-Lokoja highway. The connecting village was Dafa. And it was here that we parked our vehicle, hired two motorbikes to continue the journey because of the rough terrain. The villages have a common language called Bassa just as they are united by their cultural heritages. They believe that twin babies are a taboo and the children desecrate the land, and must be dealt with accordingly, i.e. killed. The people are no Christians or Muslims. They are traditionalists. There is total lack of government presence in the communities. No road, pipe- borne water, hospital, school. Yet the villagers vote during elections. They have representatives in the Council Areas, House of Representatives and Senate. Guide and interpreter Before Sunday Vanguard set out on the journey, arrangement had been made with a guide who would also have been the interpreter. But it turned out that the guide could not make it. We resorted to using motorcyclists as interpreters with the villagers. The first port of call was Gomani where we met some men under a tree. They told us there were missionaries in the villages and took us to a building, described as a church, where we had a chat with a 60- year-old man who identified himself as Moses. He is the pastor in charge of the church. He declared that he was posted to the village only recently and that he was yet to know the practices of the people. He viewed the question as to whether twins were being sacrificed in the village with suspicion and declined to answer. Infant mortality Leaving Gomani, we waded through the forest on motorbike until we were greeted by a cluster of mud houses, signposting Tubudu village. On arrival, we met some children playing games. Our presence interrupted their games. One of the boys smartly greeted, “Good afternoon, sir”. We tried to establish a rapport with the people through the boy. But our looks betrayed us as we were marked out among them as total strangers. How to get answers to our enquiries became difficult. We asked for the village head and chiefs but were told that they might have left for their farms. Shrines In a manner that tended to depict “it -is –our- culture- and- therefore -we- will- show it off”, the villagers built shrines that dotted everywhere. In every compound, there was a shrine strategically carved on the wall of a barn, simply announcing that twins had been sacrificed there. Our enquiries produced one resident who claimed not to have been an indigene but had lived in the village for five years. He spoke Hausa and English Languages. The man subjected us to a barrage of questions trying to ascertain our identities and mission. By the time he became convinced, he agreed to talk to us on the condition of anonymity. He was one of the missionaries there on rescue mission. He said his mission was to fight infant mortality. When we shared our experience with him, he said, “If you are a stranger, they will not tell you that they kill twins in the village but if you live among them, they tell you. Bassa people kill twins.” Taboo Our source began his story: “I work for Christian Missionary Foundation in the North Central of Nigeria., I am here because I was posted here and our aim is to reach out to the unreached in Abuja. I have been here for the past five years. My mission here is to stem infant mortality. In this village, they believe a woman is not supposed to give birth to more than a child; so they kill one of the children at birth if they are twins and leave the other because twins are a taboo to them.

[BOKO HARAM ABDUCTS SHETTIMA MUNGONO, KILLS LG BOSS]

------------------ Ninety-two year old elder statesman and first Minister of Petroleum Resources, Dr. Shettima Ali Monguno, CFR, was yesterday kidnapped in Borno State by suspected members of the Boko Haram Islamic sect shortly after performing the Juma’at Congregational prayers at a Mosque in Mafoni ward in Maiduguri metropolis. Unknown gunmen had earlier on Thursday night, killed the acting Chairman of Dikwa Local Government Area in the state, Alhaji Kachallah Umara in his compound. Mungono’s abduction took place at about 2pm in the area said to be the stronghold of the sect members. Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, also said it was saddened by the news that Alhaji Monguno has been kidnapped by unknown gun men in Maiduguri, adding that ‘’he is not expected to be subjected to such hardship and humiliation by any group, be it sectarian or men of the underworld.’’ A statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary of ACF, Mr Anthony Sani stressed that ‘’if, as is being bandied about, Boko Haram members are the kidnappers in order to press for the release of their detained members by the authorities, then, they are going about it the wrong way,’’ and asked ‘’the good people of Borno state to keep calm and not take the laws into their hands as the federal and state governments go as far as efforts can go in order to bring to an end, the culture of violence under control not only in Borno and Yobe States but through out Nigeria.’’

[CLUMSY RACE TO 2015: THE JONATHAN/AMAECHI FACE OFF]

------------------- Obviously shaken and scared, the presidency, with an incumbent who already seemed to have burnt his fingers too early in the governing of Africa’ most populous, diverse nation, midway to the end of first tenure in 2015, he is at daggers drawn with perceived political opponents in the same party. Elected as President in 2011, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, who claimed to have attended school without shoes while growing up, made promises on spreading dividends of democracy the people with his programme of Transformation Agenda, job creation, reduction of poverty, corruption, improved electricity and enhancing infrastructure among others. But widespread insecurity particularly in the north, had blurred his vision and focus. Several thousands, mainly Christians have been killed, while properties worth billions destroyed. Almost torn apart by internal crises within the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governors elected on the ticket of the party, under the aegis of Nigerian Governors’ Forum, NGF led by Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State were politically dicey and unpredictable. Aso Rock was jittery, worried about NGF becoming a political power bloc, likely determining the future of Mr. president in 2015. Meanwhile, the national Chairman of PDP, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, had a running battle with the governors, but enjoyed absolute support of Jonathan, who feared his re-election bid in 2015 could be scuttled by the governors who had some grievances to settle with him. Governor Rotimi Amaechi, as the NGF chairman, was seen as the arrowhead of the governors resistance to the imperial and dictatorial tendencies of the presidency more so as he was being alleged as having presidential ambition to be running mate to Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa State in the 2015 race.

MAN NABBED OVER WIFE’S DEATH IN LAGOS]

MAN NABBED OVER WIFE’S DEATH IN LAGOS] ------------------ LAGOS — Operatives at the homicide section of the State Criminal Investigations Department ,SCID, Yaba , Lagos, have arrested a man who allegedly murdered his wife during a scuffle over his alleged affair with his wife’s employee, in Lagos. The deceased, Endurance Ajisegiri, was the Managing Director of Speech Transition Company Limited. Vanguard gathered that following the alleged affair with her employee, Endurance left her matrimonial home in Shasha area of Lagos for her parent’s in Ibeju-Lekki area. Several entreaties made to settle the scores between the couple reportedly failed, until two weeks ago when a family friend to the Ajisegiris reportedly came to pick Endurance to her husband’s house. Circumstances under which Endurance eventually died was not clear as at yesterday, but Vanguard gathered that shortly after the mediator prevailed on Isaac to reconcile with his wife, she had to be rushed to a hospital in a pool of her blood, where she was later confirmed dead. Apparently suspecting there could be more to the mere injury in Endurance’s neck, doctor of the unnamed hospital was said to have contacted policemen at Shasha division, who arrested Isaac. Although operatives at SCID told Vanguard that Isaac maintained he did not know what led to the death of his wife but they were of the view that she could have been stabbed in the neck with a sharp object. Sources told Vanguard that a deep cut was noticed close to Endurance’s jagular. Sources further disclosed that two other persons, Isaac’s mother and his sister had also been arrested over the issue. Father of the deceased, Mr Johnson Agbobonye, told Vanguard that the only consolation would be for the Police to ensure that his daughter’s death was avenged by rendering justice to his family. According to him; “The feud started after my daughter discovered that his husband was going out with her staff and sacked the lady in question. But her husband would not let her be since the sack of the lady. She later left her home when Isaac turned her into a punching bag. We were in support of her decision so as to prevent the unknown. I was not not home the day a family friend came to pick her to her husband’s place, for I would have kicked against the action. Now he has made do his threat by killing the bread winner of the family”, said 68 year-old Agbobonye in an emotional laden voice. Operatives however said the suspect would be charged to court at the end of investigation. (

[BREAST IMPLANTS MAY DELAY CANCER DIAGNOSIS – STUDY

[BREAST IMPLANTS MAY DELAY CANCER DIAGNOSIS – STUDY] ---------------- PARIS – Breast implants may delay cancer diagnosis in women, said a study Wednesday that urged a thorough probe into the potential health risks of this type of cosmetic surgery. In a review of 12 earlier studies of breast cancer patients, a team of epidemiologists from Canada found that women with implants had a 26 percent higher risk of being diagnosed at a later stage of the disease. This was possibly because implants cast shadows on mammograms, blocking the view of breast tissue. A separate review of five other studies showed that women with implants also had a 38 percent greater risk of death from breast cancer, said the authors — likely due to the later diagnosis. There was no data to suggest that the implants themselves were a cause of cancer. “The research published to date suggests that cosmetic breast augmentation adversely affects the survival of women who are subsequently diagnosed as having breast cancer,” wrote the team. But they stressed the findings should be interpreted “with caution” as some of the studies included in the meta-analysis may have had scientific shortcomings. The studies analysed were all published after 1993, mainly in the United States, Europe and Canada. Commenting on the research, plastic surgeon Fazel Fatah, agreed the findings should be treated with caution. “This paper does raise however the important issue of possible problems with early diagnosis of localised breast cancer in some women who have breast implants due to difficulty with mammography,” he told AFP. Implants did not prevent women from feeling lumps in their own breasts. “Further studies are required to see if other forms of breast scanning, such as MRI, could be preferable to mammography in women who have breast implants,” said Fatah, a former president of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons.

[BE BEST AMONG EQUALS, STEPHANIE OKEREKE URGES COLLEAGUES] ------------------ Lagos – A popular Nollywood actress, Stephanie Okereke, on Sunday urged her colleagues to be the best among equals in their professional output. Okereke in Lagos said that stakeholders need not lag behind now that Nollywood had became a household name in the world. She urged her colleagues to utilise any opportunity of retraining themselves to bring out the expertise in them. She said that officials of the New York Film Academy would soon be in the country, and urged colleagues to make use of the opportunity. “Most of our colleagues need training, especially in film making. “We need to be trained in lightings and props to bring out quality films and story lines. “We will be able to tell African story properly through good quality pictures,” she said. According to the actress, Nigerians are very creative and needed to be developed to be rated overall best.

My eyes are very controversial

One of the most stylish women in Nollywood, Omoni Oboli, ever so radiant and award-winning actress in an interview speaks about herself and career. What prompted you into becoming an actress? Shortly after I got married, I travelled to the United Kingdom, where we spent three years. I started acting during my first year in the university but then, I had to let it go in my second year because it was clashing with my academics. I intended to come back to the industry later but I got married soon after school and we travelled out of the country. It took me about 10 years to eventually come back to the movie industry and of course, coming back was not easy, nobody remembered me from 10 years ago. I had to struggle. (Read on...) How did you eventually gain recognition? I did a couple of movies for Emem Isong, worked with Lancelot Imasuen and then for Kunle Afolayan on the ‘Figurine’ and so many other movies. How do you separate yourself from the characters you play in movies? If I don’t, then, there would be serious personality disorders. I have to play different characters all the time. Sometimes, some characters I interpret in movies could have some of one’s real life traits but there is no way the characters can be totally like you. It is definitely not all the time that actors get characters that mirror their real personalities. As actors, we study people. I do that a lot; I study people wherever I go because one day, I may be asked to play a character that is just like some of the people I am studying. I also do a lot of research. What did you study in school? French. I know it is nothing close to acting but I have always loved acting right from when I was a little girl. (Read on...
